Inspirations is a crisis respite residential program available to any individual with a severe and persistent mental illness who may be experiencing a crisis, as a result of a behavioral or emotional disturbance. Crisis respite residential services are utilized as an alternative to the unnecessary or inappropriate use of more costly interventions that include psychiatric hospitalization, crisis stabilization units, emergency department visits, and jails. A referral to this program is made after an evaluation by a crisis team, crisis worker, or other mental health professional determines that this service is necessary. The average length of stay at Inspirations is 8-14 days with an emphasis on stabilization of symptoms, individualized treatment engagement, and rapid return to a community setting. All admissions are voluntary.
